MelCo Foods is Going Big

On the 29th of June 2021 MelCo Foods celebrated the commencement of an exciting chapter, the development of a new factory extension.

Our group Managing Director, Bill Dong, accompanied with Group Senior Management, the MelCo Team, Business Partners, and other guests, broke new ground at 8 Bessemer Street, Blacktown, turning soil and cutting the ribbon on what will be a bright future for MelCo.

The factory extension will be the home of MelCo’s Research, Development, and Innovation Centre, and provide greater capacity and capability to service our ever-growing customer-base.

The Research, Development, and Innovation Centre will be the place where our skilled team will create new recipes and refined processes. Our current facility is now producing 50-60t of product and with the new factory extension our capacity is expected to increase to 100t. All powered by a state-of-the-art facility and world-class processing equipment and technology.  Spanning an area of over 3,000 sqm the project is expected to be completed by February 2022.

This comes with careful insight towards the future. Research has shown that in the month of August 2020 the consumption of QSR (Quick Service Restaurants) and Food Delivery had increased 451%, with no sign of slowing down. Research has also shown that the market size of QSR and Food Delivery is now approximately over $20 billion. And consumers are caring more about nutrition and healthy eating.

With MelCo’s focus on quick service foods that are healthy to eat, and the expansion of the new facility, MelCo Food’s is on track to be better able at servicing the needs of the growing market and predicting the trends in consumer behaviour.
